Lieutenant Lee Miller graduated from Emory and Henry College in 1991 with a Bachelor of Arts in History and Geography. Lieutenant Miller started his career with the Virginia State Police in 1992. In March 1994, he graduated from the Virginia State Police Academy and was assigned as a Trooper in Caroline County, Virginia. He was promoted to Special Agent in the Drug Enforcement Section in March 1997. On January 2004, than Special Agent Miller was promoted to First Sergeant and assigned to the Criminal Intelligence Division. From 2004 to 2005, he coordinated all Intelligence Operations for the Virginia State Police. In August 2004, he was selected to participate in a working group regarding the creation of the Virginia Fusion Center. From 2005 to July 2007, First Sergeant Miller managed the day-to-day operations of the Virginia Fusion Center. On August 26, 2007, he was promoted to Lieutenant and currently oversees the Intelligence component of the Virginia State Police to include the Virginia Fusion Center.
